Dr. Phan’s research investigates the adolescence experience of autistic and non-autistic youths as they transition through the pubertal process and how it relates to mental health. She is interested in studying the impact of early puberty and sexual health educational preventative intervention strategies on autistic youth’s mental health and relationship with their caregiver. Dr. Phan’s research interest builds upon her previous work on biopsychosocial stress within parent-adolescent relationships and hormone coupling association with youth psychopathology symptoms.
